Listen Online to Your Favorite So Cal Radio Stations Choosing From Quick Categorized List

It’s from a site called RadioTime where you can listen to most radio stations, AM or FM, all genres (Talk, Rock, Family, Adult Standards, Alternative, Adult Contemporary, Christian, Korean – you name it).  With a few clicks, you can even find radio stations all over the world in the same all-in-one-place convenient list format for stations in that region.

Click HERE for the website that covers So. California.  From there you can easily search the website for all the goodies it has to offer relating to radio entertainment.

For music, my favorite genre is Adult Standards, and was glad to find a couple of radio stations with that format, although my go-to station is only offered online – Martini In The Morning.

Waba Grill Teriyaki House-Tasty Food, Healthy & Surprisingly Inexpensive

Earlier this month, I wrote about another very good, reasonably priced restaurant in Mission Viejo called the Grill Hut, which serves kabobs or plates of vegetables, chicken, or steak, most meals under $10.

And now, my new find, the Waba Grill Teriyaki House at 25800 Jeronimo just off Alicia Pkwy in the same shopping center as Jack-in-the-Box.  Unless you’re compelled to stay in the car when ordering food, the Waba Grill will get you in and out just as fast if not faster than ‘Jack’.

More important, the food is very tasty and  made with 100% all natural ingredients, no MSG.  All meats are charbroiled, no oil is ever used for cooking, nothing is fried.   They have ‘drive-thru’ prices.  Examples: Chicken Bowl, $5.09; Chicken Salad Plate, $6.99; Salmon Plate, $7.89; Half-Half Veggie Bowl (half rice, half veggies, chicken & steak), $5.75.  Cooked fresh to order, low fat, high protein, low calories.   You need to give this place a try.

Phone orders ready within 15 minutes.  Phone:  949-380-8803

They have 15 other locations, 3 in our area:  Lake Forest, Irvine, and Santa Ana. Website is www.wabagrill.com.

I Recommend this Alterations Shop in Laguna Hills

The shop name is Expert Alterations.  Kyle is the owner, and he’s gifted with the sewing machine.  In fact, he owns several machines for working with different types of fabric.  He can copy an item of clothing, and make certain kinds of upholstery.

I’m pretty, pretty picky, and was pleased how meticulous the work was, in fact, he went the extra inch (no pun intended) on a few things. Another woman, also picky, thought his work was excellent.

He’s at the corner of Paseo de Valencia and Alicia Pkwy next to Hello Nails and in the same shopping center as Yogurtland. The address is 25401 Alicia Pkwy, #G.

Finally Found Healthy, Delicious Alternative to Fast Food Restaurants

The restaurant is called The Grill Hut-Fresh Kabobs on Mesquite Fire. One is located in Laguna Niguel, but it’s their newest location I went to on Los Alisos in Mission Viejo (north of Marguerite Pkwy).

Frankly, I don’t eat kabobs because I’ve found in the past they’re too highly seasoned for my stomach, and cause indigestion for hours. Don’t ask me why I chose to eat here. I was very hungry, at the shopping center, and there was the Grill Hut. Happy to report I had no problem with their seasoning, yet the food I ordered was flavorful.

Another thing – I don’t like eating breast of chicken, tastes like a shoe. But the young woman who worked there convinced me to try it. Woohoo! It’s the juiciest, most tender I have ever eaten. I’ll be ordering it again. In case you’re wondering, they marinate the chicken in yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper.

You can order the chicken in a salad, a wrap, main dish, ala carte, as a low carb meal, or a chicken kabob a la carte with hummus (only $5.99!). Starting April 5th, 2010, they’ll be offering the chicken in a pita sandwich.

I also tried their ground beef kabob. Doesn’t sound very interesting, does it? Well, let me tell you, it’s out of this world. And I really appreciate how they remove the stick for you before serving. (Have I told you I’m all about convenience?)

If you order the kabob main dish, it includes choice of two items: Garden green salad, grilled tomatoes, basmati rice and bread. The kabobs are available in the ground beef ($7.99), chicken ($8.99), steak ($9.99), veggie ($6.99), and fish ($9.99).

Their food is fresh, meats have not been frozen nor is any preparation done in a microwave.

Here’s a link to their website where you can view the menu and learn a little bit more about them.

Honestly, there’s just no reason to eat at McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Quizno’s and the like when for similar cost, your food can be fresh, healthy and delightful.

MISSION VIEJO: 28815 Los Alisos Blvd, Mission Viejo, north of Marguerite Pkwy in the Von’s Shopping Center. As soon as you drive into the shopping center, turn right, you’ll see it on the right.

LAGUNA NIGUEL: 27020 Alicia Pkwy at Pacific Park, in the shopping center food court area near Rubio’s. (I’m told they’re the highest money earning restaurant in the shopping center.)

Tustin Support Group for Those Who’ve Had Near-Death-Experiences (NDE)

Click here for OC Register article on the OC NDE Support Group

Not only is this support group for NDE experiencers, but for those who:

  • are interested in them
  • question if there’s an afterlife or what it’s like
  • have experienced ‘unexplainable’ events, i.e. out-of-body experience, or hearing, seeing, or strongly sensing the presence of a loved one who’s passed away
  • have fears about death
  • are curious or have questions

People from all religious and cultural backgrounds attend. There’s no judging, criticism, proselytizing, or dogma, but rather, an abundance of warmth, understanding, acceptance, support, and information. This group is not maudlin, in fact, there’s often laughter.

This is a place where all attendees have the emotional safety to share or ask questions, or not say anything at all.

Typically, there’s a volunteer guest speaker who’s had an NDE or similar experience, a relevant video, or a ‘sharing’ meeting.

If You Need a Recommendation for a Small-Business Based Quickbooks Expert/Financial Services Specialist

I’ve recently had a few colleagues ready to tackle their 2009 taxes who have asked who I use to reconcile my books, help with various year end reports, who can provide Quickbooks help, and other accounting and financial services.  It occurred to me there are probably others who might have the same questions at this time of the year.

Pat Kenner from Kenmar Management, Inc., has been providing my small business with accounting and financial services for the past five years, coming into my home office on a quarterly basis. She is a Quickbooks expert and although she’s works primarily with Windows, she works her way around my Mac version very well.

Pat has a BA from UCLA, an MBA from UCLA, John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management-Concentration in Accounting/Information Systems, and in 1999, UC Irvine, Certificate in Personal Financial Planning.

Regarding Quickbooks, she can do it all from setting up new books, conversion to Quickbooks software, ‘cleaning up’ existing Quickbooks files, accounts reconciliation, customizing reports, etc.

Pat can provide hands-on accounting for a very small business, or train you and your employees to use QuickBooks with her oversight quarterly or annually, whatever it is you need.

I really like that she takes notes of each time she’s in and of conversations we have between meetings so she always knows where we left off and what we need to do.  Nothing seems to fall through the cracks.  She’s actually saved my you-know-what a few times on reports I planned to do myself, but ran into a problem with it just as it was due.  She’s made phone calls on my behalf to various State agencies  to work out a problem.

What more can I say, she keeps me up and running inspite of the obstacles I throw her way from time to time.  She’s one of those real reliable, salt-of-the-earth type of people.

She doesn’t prepare tax returns, and only works in south Orange County.

Her standard rate is $55/hour but can be negotiated lower with a minimum of 20 hours per month.

If you like frozen yogurt, you must go to Frapy’s.

If you prefer premium frozen yogurt, and even better, at $.35/oz and 24 flavors to choose from, go to this coffee bar style yogurt shop on Fabricante, which is one block West of Jeronimo off of Alicia Parkway. Creamy, delicious flavor. My two favorite are Vanilla Gelato and Chocolate Kiss Gelato. Magnifique! Golden Spoon is more expensive for what I find is inferior yogurt. Frapy’s also has flavored coffees and muffins. In fact, new for the decadent, they offer a plain vanilla or chocolate, semi sweet muffin for the purpose of adding to your yogurt. It absorbs the flavor of the yogurt, with the texture of the muffin – oh my gosh, I want one right now! Must mention how clean and calm the place is. Easy, quick stop off if you often travel Alicia, Los Alisos, Jeronimo or Muirlands. It’s located closest to Alicia, just past Rubio’s and Italian deli which both recently opened at Fabricante and Alicia. Open til 11pm everyday.

Trager Approach-You owe yourself a one-hour session if you’re carrying any stress or anxiety

I’ve written about the Trager Approach before (See Archived Blogs on right side of page), but just had another session yesterday and am  inspired again to share the Trager Approach with everyone.  The profound soothing, calm and relaxation you experience is what you’re really looking for, but don’t quite achieve, when you receive a traditional massage.

Click HERE to watch a Trager session.

Trager work is one of the least invasive forms, using gentle rocking and bouncing motions to induce states of deep, pleasant relaxation. It helps the nervous system’s communication with the muscles, so that it can be used as a method of rehabilitation especially by people suffering from traumatic injuries, post-polio syndrome, and other chronic neuromuscular problems.”                                               – Andrew Weil, M.D.

The Trager Approach is also for everyday stress that’s held tight in the body, the cause of illness, and a host of other physical, behavioral and emotional complaints.

      Mission Viejo pet store recommendation

It’s the independently owned Pet Stop Warehouse located at Marguerite and Santa Marguerita Pkwy in the Ralph’s shopping center, behind Starbucks. (Shortcut-enter the shopping center from Mustang, the street that runs behind the shopping center).

The owner is knowledgeable, helpful, and generous with samples.  What I find so awesome are the interesting products that you won’t find in the major chain stores. Yesterday, I purchased a great harness I hadn’t seen anywhere else.  The inside is soft, no sharp areas to irritate my dog’s skin, and a leash, in orange to match her new harness, my favorite leash of all time.  The majority of its length is rubber tubing so neither you nor the dog is jerked. Throw it in washing machine with no problems, cleans up great.

Next, I purchased a CD called Chopin for dogs (they also have it for cats) which uses different kinds of sound that’s pleasing and calming to a dog.  When I played it at home, not only did I like it but my dog sat up and listened to it so it really was resonating for her. It’s a good tool to have, especially for times you know your pet will be frightened – when there’s lightening, fireworks, etc.

Do you have a dog that doesn’t signal you when it has to go out?  The Pet Stop Warehouse offers a product that will help you train your dog to do so with a strong ribbon type of material with bells hanging down its length that you hang from the door handle.  Easy instructions. Goal is for your dog to ring the bell when it has to relieve itself.   I had heard of this method of training before and fashioned my own ribbon adding some bells, but for a variety of reasons, didn’t work out well.  Although we’ve only started using the new strip of bells, I’m seeing some early signs of response so I’m really jazzed.

Although they have a lot of the pet food and some other merchandise you’ll see in the Petsmart’s & Petco’s, there are so many interesting products that are unique. Another example  –  dog themed quality Xmas wrapping paper, gift bags, and greeting cards.

She runs sales, and when a supplier offers her special pricing, she makes sure you benefit from it as well.

Do yourself a favor if you live in the area, go to this store instead of the chains.  You’ll appreciate it so much more, including the personalized service.

They now offer dog and puppy training classes, and will soon be hosting pet adoption events.

The Trager Approach, each 1-hour session more relaxing than a massage

I’ve been receiving ‘Trager’ for a few months now, and am so impressed that I want to share it with you. You may be unfamiliar with it as I was until this past summer when, upon a friend’s recommendation, made an appointment with Glennda Adair, a Mission Viejo Trager practitioner.  After each session, I find myself in a deeply relaxed, soothed state, more profound than what I have achieved from massage.

I lay on the massage table, and Glennda may start with my ankle, which she will so very gently rock back and forth.  A very subtle movement.  You may think at first at your first Trager session, “how is this going to help me? She’s barely doing anything!”

And may I add to what Dr Weil says, Trager is equally beneficial for everyday stress.

A session usually lasts from 60 to 90 minutes. No oils or lotions are used and the client is dressed for their comfort.

Glennda charges $65/hour.  I find her to be a quiet, gentle person with whom I would imagine anyone would feel as ‘safe’ and comfortable with as I do.  To contact her, Glennda’s email address is glennda.adair@cox.net.

Buy Rite, new outlet store in The Orchard Shopping Center

The store just opened a week ago and owned by a nice couple.  Such an array of high end merchandise – apparel, electronics, furniture, washing machines and dryers, flat panel TV’s, purses, shoes, clothing, patio, health & beauty aid, and more.

I purchased a $5 pair of sandals that are cute and comfy, and I’m deciding on an elegant TV table unlike anything I’ve seen. Hope it’s still there.

The owners told me the merchandise is comprised of close-outs, discontinued items, samples, or surplus from stores such as Costco and Macy’s.

The prices seem good, but it gets better – they’re open to negotiating on price.  But no changing your mind.  No returns unless the merchandise is defective or damaged in some way.  New merchandise arrives daily.

The store is located at 23608 El Toro Rd, Lake Forest, where Ralph’s Market, Lucille’s BBQ Restaurant, and Petsmart are located. Buy Rite is a few doors down from Petsmart. Ph 949-588-9401.
