Hand & Stone, A Massage & Facial Spa coming to Lake Mission Viejo shopping center

Yes!  Finally, a new business opening in the half vacant shopping center at Marguerite Pkwy and Vista Del Lago where Peppino’s and Tortilla Flats are located.  Looking at their website, it’s not clear if their regular price for a massage will be $39.95 and their Signature Facial, $49.95  or just the first visit.  Both are good prices but there’s a footnote that prices at some locations can vary.  It’s a franchise. Waxing services will also be available.

Address:  27722 Vista Del Lago A3,A4, A5, Mission Viejo, CA 92692 (in the same location as the previous 1940’s style women’s clothing store, and before that, the coffee/muffin/bagel cafe).

Let’s wish them well.

The Meat House is opening soon in Mission Viejo

The Meat StoreThey call themselves the modern revival of the neighborhood butcher-only better, offering a wide selection of expertly butchered premium beef, poultry, veal, lamb, and pork, their legendary marinades, fine cheeses, fresh produce, artisan breads, prepared side dishes, Boar’s Head Deli products, delectable desserts and pastries, and my personal favorite, prepared foods.

Not all their locations carry wine, and it’s not clear if Mission Viejo will, but if so, they carry over 200 varieties from around the world, which are hand selected by The Meat House’s Certified Wine Educator.

They’ll be located in the Gateway Shopping Center at Alicia Pkwy & Jeronimo, across the driveway from Saddleback Urgent Care.  Telephone: (949) 548-6328

A cold sore’s early warning symptom can fill you with dread like nothing else

Two long weeks – that’s what you have to look forward to with a honker of a cold sore on your lip soon after you feel the early warning ‘tingle’.  Let me guess — when you feel the ‘tingle’,  you have an event coming up that makes the eruption occur at the absolute worst time!  No, I’m not psychic, that’s just the way it rolls.  Personal experience.

This guy did a video on Cold Sores Begone™, what a character!  A hood indoors?

You can buy it locally – Whole Foods Market, Mother’s Market, Sprouts, Henry’s Marketplace.

Ladera Ranch’s Corky’s Kitchen & Bakery-updated review

A few months back, I posted a highly positive review for this family style restaurant. After visiting several times since then, I still like the place, but must note that both I, and whoever I happen to have along with me, notice that most times, some part of our meal is not quite right – the baked potato may not be cooked all the way through, baked carrots still somewhat hard when served, salmon overcooked.

With that said, when it’s brought to the server’s attention, this restaurant bends over backwards to make it right.  The food is served again done right, lots of expressed desire that you’re happy, and usually, they throw in a free desert.  Without a doubt, Corky’s wants you to have a good experience with them.

Just be aware of this when you visit Corky’s, and don’t be shy about speaking up. They want to know where there’s weaknesses in their operations so they can make corrections.   The food is good, provide generous portions, and I’m still a good customer.

A follow up on trying new affordable vet, Dr. Korolos

Affordable vet, Laguna HillsYou might want to see first blog post on hearing good things about Dr. Korolos in Laguna Hills.

I had a reason to take Molly to the vet last week, a large bump on her back similar to a pimple. So off we went to visit Dr. Korolos for the first time.

News is good!

  • Friendy staff
  • Dr. Korolos is absolutely thorough, doesn’t rush you.
  • Honest guy. Took Molly in another room to aspirate the bump, he thought it would prove to be a cyst but wants to make sure not cancer. The lab cost would be $125. He came back to the room with Molly and “good news”, it was very apparent it had been a cyst, no need for lab. Saved me $105. Ka ching! (It still cost $22 to aspirate the bump).
  • He showed me where Molly has gingivitis on back teeth causing two of her teeth to grow out in an incorrect way.  My last vet never mentioned it, even though he cleaned her teeth not four months ago.  I’m brushing her teeth every other day now.  If it doesn’t help significantly, we’ll have Dr. Korolos clean them again. Only $150 (compare to $300 and more with other vets).
  • The first pet visit is free!  But wait-there’s more!  If you have more than one pet, it’s free for each of their first visits.

They’re located at 24861 Alicia Pkway, Laguna Hills, just west of the 5 in the shopping center where Big Lots and Dick’s Sporting Goods are located.

Warehouse sale in Foothill Ranch tommorrow thru Sunday- products for all ages. Think Halloween & holiday gifts!

Innovage Warehouse SaleI’ve written previously about the Innovage Warehouse and the 2x a year sale they run. The prices are ridiculously cheap, and there’s something for everyone.  They’re running an extra sales event this year coming up tommorrow, Fri, 11am-7pm, Sat, 9am-5pm, and Sun, 9am-5pm.
The directions are little difficult to read on their ad.  I’ll share how I get there from Mission Viejo at Alicia and Marguerite Pkwy:

I drive north on Marguerite, turn left on Santa Marguerita Pkwy and continue after the street name changes to Portola Pkwy.  Turn right on Lake Forest, take the 1st right on Pauling.  Location on right, 19511 Pauling.

And then, there’s always Google Maps you can use for directions.

OC Women Entrepreneurs – MasterMind Network Group Invitation

There continues to be a lot of interest on this blog for Savor the Success, a lively, fast-growing national community of savvy and supportive women entrepreneurs. I belong to the Orange County chapter, which meets in Tustin once a month.

women meetingThe key to its success is something called MasterMinding, a goal-achievement tradition that goes back as far as Benjamin Franklin.  It’s the gathering of like-minded individuals who meet regularly. Everyone has their turn to receive the group’s focus and collective brainpower to help with whatever issue is brought to that month’s meeting.  This could involve help making a decision, needed resources, or ideas.  Many people never achieve their dreams because they are trying to do it all by themselves.  The power of a MasterMind group is incredible.

What a few Orange County chapter members say:

“As a small business owner, I find the resources available and connections I’ve made are invaluable. Members are passionate about wanting to help each other succeed; simply put, it’s authentic. I know that when I have a question about my small business the answers will be generous and given with serious thought.”
– Wendy Navarro,  Saige Nicole’s Baby and Toddler Boutique

“My connections have contributed toward a 15% increase in revenue.  Through member Ann Baker of PR-123, I’ve launched a professional-looking Facebook page.  Also, member Wendy Navarro of Saige Nicole’s connected me with government funded small business resources that I never would have known about.”
– Michelle Deets Haynes, Clarity Learning Private Tutoring

“I’ve developed business relationships with members from all over the country – and at every local Mastermind Meeting,  I’ve come away with a new lead or idea!”
– Ann Baker,  PR-123 and Publicity Pros

As a member, I’ll add my two cents – It’s the one critical resource I could not do without for the myriad of issues which arise in running my business, which is to educate people and market my two proprietary,  non-toxic remedies for cold sores and canker sores.  For example,  I’m struggling with making a huge decision, and this will be what I bring to our next meeting on October 13th. I know from experience that I will walk away with the answer, or have ideas to sit with for a couple of days to be able to make that decision with confidence.

The OC Mastermind Network Group is open to new members.  If you or someone you know is at any stage of running a business, you may be interested to join us at a meeting as our guest to see if it’s for you.  We meet at 10:30am-12:30pm in Tustin.  For information, contact Ann Baker at (213) 785-8835 or by email, Ann@PublicityPros.net.
